You, Me, the World and Wanstead

COMPLETE
2013

You, Me, the World and Wanstead was a community project in Wanstead, delivered by take stock exchange involving five different organisations, who engage with five different groups or people that form part of Wanstead’s community. They were:

  • Age UK, a day centre for older people

  • Aldersbrook Primary School, a local authority state school

  • Kids in Charge, an after school activities club for children at nursery and primary school

  • The Woodbine Clubhouse, a day centre for adults with learning difficulties

  • Wanstead High School, a comprehensive state school and specialist college in the performing arts.

The project’s aim was to create for participants the opportunity to develop their awareness of how they view themselves, engage with other people, the place they live, and the wider world. Our intention was to create a space where participants could engage their imagination and be creative, responsive and attentive to their own thoughts and feelings, to other people and their wider environment.

The project had two stages:

1) In the first week, TSE delivered bespoke workshops at each of the organisations where participants were, in various ways, provoked into giving responses to a series of questions or tasks about themselves, other people, the world and Wanstead

2) In the second week, TSE performed bespokely designed interactive presentations at each of the organisations with the participants engaged with the previous week, and in some cases new participants
